"Who shall inherit the earth?"
"Through ... the Christly quality of meekness, we exercise
the Christly power of dominion"
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth" (Matt. 5:5). Here is Christ Jesus' unqualified estimate of meekness as indispensable to the character of a true Christian and as the precursor to inheriting the earth, or consciousness of spiritual reality. Those who are truly meek in the sense of gentleness, of humility and reverence before God, are indeed divine heirs, secure in the possession of God bestowed good, of which they can never be dispossessed.
