WORDS OF CURRENT INTEREST

The wind Bloweth where it listeth ... So is every one that is born of The Spirit (John 3:8)

When one is studying this verse, it is helpful to remember that in Greek the words for "wind" and "spirit" are identical: pneuma in each case; and many commentators feel that there was an intentional play upon words in the passage in question. In his commentary, however, Plummer offers this translation: "The Spirit breatheth where it willeth ... so is every one (born) who is born of the Spirit."
