The first healing we had in our family after a business associate had told my father of Christian Science was that of a sprained ankle sustained by my mother. A practitioner was called, and that same evening my mother was able to attend a concert, getting there on foot, and to sing in a choir.

Shortly afterwards, I, then a young child, became ill. At first my parents were uncertain about relying on Science in this case, and a doctor was called. He diagnosed appendicitis and wanted to operate immediately. But my parents then decided to rely upon Science. The same practitioner came to see me, and as a result of her prayerful work the symptoms calling for an operation disappeared overnight. Although the doctor continued to call for a few days to keep an eye on me in accordance with the law, I received no treatment from him. I was soon completely well.

I remain grateful for many years' attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School, where I learned to love Science and to understand something of its teachings. It is a great joy to me that our son attended Sunday School until he reached the age of twenty. Class instruction laid the foundation for me of greater practice of Science and much useful church work. My husband and I received class instruction from the same teacher; and for the benefits of Science in our home, I never cease to be grateful.
