I learned of Christian Science on a journey to Sweden. I heard two testimonies of healing which made a great impression on me, whereupon I purchased the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and copies of the Quarterly and The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition). When I had read the chapter on Prayer in the textbook, I knew I had found a great treasure.

Before I came to Sweden I had had to give up office work because an oculist had prohibited all reading and writing, since, in his opinion, I was going blind. That was more than thirty years ago. I used every free moment I had to study the textbook. I did not even think of the doctor's warning. That my eyes are normal again and that it is possible for me to read all day long, I owe solely to my studying the truths in the Bible and in the textbook.

Soon after I became a member of The Mother Church, I experienced the great blessing membership brings, for one healing followed another. My first healing was instantaneous although at the time I understood little of Christian Science. On page 449 of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes, "A grain of Christian Science does wonders for mortals, so omnipotent is Truth, but more of Christian Science must be gained in order to continue in well doing."
