Increased Usefulness
We frequently receive reports of blessings experienced by church members who appreciate the Reading Room in their community and visit it regularly for prayer and study. They find that this quiet hour advances their spiritual progress and enables them to give prayerful support to Reading Room activity.
A librarian from San Diego, California, writes that the members of her branch church welcomed the opportunity to give special support to their Reading Room. Fruitful results became apparent immediately in the steady increase in the sale of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and in new subscriptions to the Christian Science periodicals. There is also a substantial increase in the number of visitors who come to study.
She says: "A four-month payment plan was established, which has provided a convenient way for students to increase their libraries of Mrs. Eddy's works and other authorized literature, including the biographies. People are also making use of this plan to purchase gifts.
