I first heard of Christian Science...
I first heard of Christian Science in a remote part of Northern Rhodesia in 1936.
We were a very small group of people, and our social life depended upon each other. One of the members of the group was a student of Christian Science. She was known as "Granny." One day when I was playing golf, my partner looked up and said: "Do you see Granny? She is the happiest member of our small community. She is a Christian Scientist." I wondered what that was. Well, I soon knew.
My husband, who had suffered from asthma and an aggravated stomach (as the doctor called it) for many years, asked Granny if she could tell him something about Christian Science, since he had heard years ago that students of this religion did not have medical treatment. She lent him a copy of the Sentinel, and he started to read it. He was so impressed by the fact that all the articles mentioned a book called
