I now wish to write about the truth that has helped me to overcome alcoholism, smoking, and a disbelief in God; to give up coffee; and to be healed of many physical ailments.

I had been a user of alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee for many years. During this period I tried everything that was recommended or forced upon me in an effort to be freed from the drinking habit, including Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. I also studied different religious teachings, all of which turned me more against God and everything He stood for. I was unhappy; but one day about four years ago my husband and I were sitting in a bus station when I noticed some Christian Science literature in a distribution rack. I took some away with me and began reading. After a while, I became interested and went to a Christian Science Reading Room to ask questions.

I was invited to attend a Wednesday testimony meeting in a branch church. I listened to the testimonies of healing, and before I knew it I was standing and just relating my problem. After the meeting different ones spoke helpfully to me. Among these dear ones was a practitioner, who lent me the wonderful textbook by Mrs. Eddy.
