My first experience in Christian Science was a healing of severe migraine from which I had suffered every day for many years. I am inexpressibly grateful to the friend who brought me to Christian Science. She recommended that I visit a practitioner, so I did. I understood very little of what was said, but I had an instantaneous healing.

When I returned home after the visit with the practitioner, I threw away all the medicine I had. I got myself a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study it. I wanted to know more about the teaching which had helped me. Through the study of the textbook, I was healed of severe eczema, which no doctor had been able to cure, and also of a seasonal susceptibility to sever colds.

I should like to mention an incident which proves the necessity of doing individual protective work. One day I had an acute sore throat. The housemother in the school in which my son was enrolled telephoned me. When she heard how difficult it was for me to talk, she said I must be very careful and warned me of a certain complication of the illness. I did not think of denying the reality of illness and admitting the truth of God's man, but merely thought that her remark was foolish. The next day, Thursday, I could not stand up, and I suffered sever pain.
