Church Dedications
Arvada Enterprise
Arvada, Colorado (First Church).
The public is cordially invited to attend dedicatory services of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Arvada, located at 8591 Ralston road, on Sunday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Formal organization of Christian Science Society, Arvada, was completed in 1919. The society purchased a small edifice at Yukon street and West Fifty-seventh avenue which was dedicated in May of 1921.
During January of 1955 the society was recognized as a church by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and the name was changed to First Church of Christ, Scientist, Arvada.
In 1954 the present acre building site was purchased and construction of a new edifice was started. A Sunday School, a Reading Room, and administrative offices were constructed and services held there while the main structure was being finished.
The new edifice was completed and the first service held on Easter Sunday, April, 1955.
Christian Science churches are not dedicated until free from debt. —Arvada Enterprise (October 12, 1961).
