RADIO PROGRAM No. 38 - The Great Gift
HOST: Amid all the hustle of lastminute Christmas preparations, the reason for our celebration—the birth of the Saviour in Bethlehem—sometimes is almost forgotten. Some of the wonder and promise of that joyous event centuries ago is expressed in the beloved carol "O Little Town of Bethlehem." [At this point Hymn No. 222 from the Christian Science Hymnal was sung.]
The quiet joy of that carol is quite a contrast to the bustle and turmoil of the Christmas season. Maybe it's not too surprising that some people feel a little like Scrooge in Dickens' "Christmas Carol." You remember, his nephew greeted him on Christmas Eve with, "A merry Christmas, Uncle!"
And all Scrooge could muster in reply was a dour, "Bah! ... Humbug!"
