The Upper Room Prepared
"And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready." There is much substance in this statement from Luke (22: 12) for the librarian to contemplate in preparing his work for daily activity in a Christian Science Reading Room. Making ready the room includes inspired prayerful work for its healing purpose and atmosphere as well as the daily duties which make for order, cleanliness, beauty, and comfort.
With what joy and expectancy of good the librarian can go about his task of glory as he appreciates and puts into effect the substance of Mary Baker Eddy's statement (Retrospection and Introspection, p. 93), "The best spiritual type of Christly method for uplifting human thought and imparting divine Truth, is stationary power, stillness, and strength; and when this spiritual ideal is made our own, it becomes the model for human action."
