RADIO PROGRAM No. 30 - "Am I my brother's keeper?"

HOST: Some time ago in an editorial by Norman Cousins the, Saturday Review told of a neighborhood discussion of fallout shelters. Neighbors heard one of their group advise that in event of an emergency, they should use a gun, if necessary, to keep others out of their family shelters. The magazine then reported the following conversation:

"A woman who lived next door to the citizen who had just given this advice had a question.

"'John,' she said, 'you and your family have been our closest friends for ten years. Do you mean to say that if this city was bombed and my baby and I were caught in the open, and we were hurt, and came to your shelter you would turn us away?'
