(su-bor'di-nat—u as in circus, o as in orb, i as in charity, a as in ace). To place in a lower order or class; to make or consider as of less value or importance. To make subject or subservient; to subject or subdue. The verb is derived from the Latin sub (under) plus ordinare (to set in order or arrange).
