About thirty years ago I learned to declare and to prove these words which Paul proved (Phil. 4:13): "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." With the passing on of my husband I was left with two young boys to support and without training for or experience in earning a living. Loving friends and relatives encouraged me and opened the way so that I could attend college and complete a teacher training course.

Just previous to this time a dear relative had presented Christian Science to me simply by obeying the precepts of this religion. She gave me many good thoughts with which to work, among them being the Bible verse (II Tim. 1:7), "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." I had to prove the truth of this verse almost daily in my two years of college work and also later on when I was qualified to teach and began to look for a position during the years of an economic depression.

I asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and as a result of her prayers I obtained a teaching position in spite of the suggestions that specialized teaching was being curtailed, that young teachers were being given precedence, and that influential references were necessary. The opportunities of this position have grown and developed in many ways, and it has been a daily blessing over the years.
