As I was returning to my office one day about five years ago, after attending a noonday lecture on Christian Science, I slipped and fell on my back. After regaining my breath, I got up and proceeded on my way, but soon began to feel some effects of the fall. When I reached my office building I could hardly climb the flight of steps to the second floor. A great sense of fear engulfed me, but because I had known no religion other than Christian Science and had had many proofs of the healing power of its truths, there was no doubt in my mind that this injury could be healed quickly.

I prayed first to quiet the fear, as we are taught to do in Science. I continued to pray, remembering that the lecture I had heard had had as its main purpose the healing and uplifting of those attending it and that the Word of God had been expressed through it. I knew that I could experience the healing effect of the truths voiced by the lecturer, and I recalled many of his statements as I sat there prayerfully working. Within an hour most of the stiffness and pain were gone from my back, and I was able to move about the office without difficulty. In a few days all the soreness was gone, and the healing was complete.

Among the many other healings I have experienced through the application of Science alone are those of several undiagnosed internal disorders, a sprained ankle, a broken collarbone, colds, warts, an abscessed gum, athlete's foot, and extreme timidity and sensitiveness. It has helped me with school problems and later in working out problems in the business world. Through prayer and a consecrated effort to establish in my consciousness the true, spiritual concept of home and companionship, I have been led into a happy marriage and have been blessed with a lovely daughter.
