Self-government and Animal Magnetism

"To be properly self-governed is to be subject to the divine influence alone"

The great theme of what Mrs. Eddy terms "self-government" runs throughout the Bible and her writings. On page 106 of the textbook. Science and Health, she states: "God has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, reason, and conscience. Man is properly self-governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love."
