Christian Science healed my mother of tuberculosis of the lungs in its last stages when I was a young boy. One week the people of the village where we lived expected that she would soon succumb, and the next week, after she had had Christian Science treatment, she appeared in public in normal health. There was never any return of the difficulty. As a result of my mother's healing, both my parents took up the study of Science and in due course became members of The Mother Church, as I also did a few years later.

My first healing was that of an injury to one of my feet, sustained when I accidentally jumped while barefoot onto the tines of an upturned garden rake. This occurred on a Sunday, and by the following Thursday, having had the help of an experienced student of Christian Science, I was able to wear shoes without discomfort. Thus in early childhood I became convinced of the healing power of this Science.

Another healing which I should like to relate is that of acute pain in connection with a kidney stone. Treatment by a Christian Science practitioner was requested and promptly given. In a few minutes the pain ceased, and I fell into a peaceful sleep. In a day or two the stone was eliminated painlessly.
