GOD OUTLINES
"Deity, which outlines but is not outlined," is part of the definition of Mind given by Mary Baker Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 591). Elsewhere in her writings Mrs. Eddy declares that God is too mighty to be outlined, but He determines the individuality which He embraces as His reflection. This individuality is of supreme interest to the Christian Scientist, for he knows that his salvation from the mortal sense of life depends upon his demonstration of his spiritually outlined selfhood, which exists intact in divine Mind. He knows that not only his character is distinct and individual, but his functions, his associations, and his experiences in God's kingdom are ordered precisely by the Father.
No one can escape the plan of Deity, and one's efforts should be dedicated to the unveiling of the selfhood which reflects the nature and power of divinity. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 103), "In Science, form and individuality are never lost, thoughts are outlined, individualized ideas, which dwell forever in the divine Mind as tangible, true substance, because eternally conscious." One thinks of this passage with joy when he notes the spiritual poverty of mortal existence and the limited experience, perverted mentality, ugly character, unrequited affection, of many mortals. Science shows that perfection of both nature and experience remains in Mind and awaits the demonstration of each individual.
The injustice of evil mind, which would outline for some of its concepts intellect, for others stupidity, for some health, for others sickness, for some riches, for others poverty, must be understood as a vagary of the mortal dream, from which mankind is roused by Science. The divine outline, is the only fact of being and is available to all. God is just, and His plan includes unlimited spiritual good for each conscious identity.
