GENTLE DOCTRINE

Deuteronomy 32:2

After the parching winds of creed,
Scorched soil, threatened seed,
Comes the doctrine—"the small rain."
And our planting is not in vain.

Comes "the small rain" seeping through
Pores of consciousness—the true
Teaching of the what and how—
Creative! Forever! Now!

Not the whirlwind, but the shower
Upon the grass brings up the flower.
Not the thundered fear of hell,
Nor the icy spell

Of hope forsaken, feeds the root
Or brings the final fruit.
Love, the gentle power that yields
Harvest in the fields.
