Having received much inspiration...
Having received much inspiration and help from testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and in the Sentinel, I wish to express my gratitude for these periodicals and for Christian Science. I also wish to express gratitude for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who through her constant devotion to God and His Word was able to give the world the textbook. Science and Health, that all may better acquaint themselves with God and the Bible.
Mrs. Eddy states in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 279 ), "It is the love of God, and not the fear of evil, that is the incentive in Science." As a child. I was very fearful of punishment from God, and I drifted away from my church instead of drawing closer to it. Since I began studying Christian Science my love of Church has increased constantly.
Through the application of Christian Science I have experienced many healings. One of them was that of migraine, which prostrated me for three or four days at a time. Oak poisoning, influenza, poisoning from a spider bite, and colds were also healed. An internal abscess was slow in yielding, but disappeared after I had obtained through much study a good understanding of what God is.
When quite small my daughter was ill with a tubercular gland of the throat. She suffered much under the care of specialists for four years. After I had studied Christian Science just a few months, she was healed of this trouble in one month by the faithful work of a practitioner, and she has remained free from it in the more than twenty years since then. She was also healed of measles in five hours and of smallpox in two days.
I am truly grateful for all these physical healings. However, it is the regeneration of character and the spiritual enlightenment for which I am most grateful. Membership in The Mother Church, activity in a branch church, class instruction, and association meetings, which mean more each year, are among my great blessings. A period as an associate at the Sanatorium of the Christian Science Benevolent Association on Pacific Coast was another precious experience. I am indeed grateful to God, divine Love, for Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Isabel Beatie, Sacramento, California.
