In 1936 I met the friend who introduced me to Christian Science. For some time I had been looking for something which I felt sure God would show to me. I had also come to certain definite conclusions, and I had not studied Christian Science for long before I realized that it confirmed these conclusions. I am profoundly grateful for what Science has done for me and has meant to me since that time.

I was working in London during the 1940-41 blitz and can honestly say I had very little fear. I was wonderfully protected, and I think that the words that helped me most were those of Hymn No. 267 in the Christian Science Hymnal, "Our God is All-in-all." They were a wonderful counterfact in the face of all that seemed to be.

A few days after I had joined one of the women's services I was knocked off my bicycle and taken to hospital with concussion, a tooth knocked out, and a broken wrist. The friend who was with me at the time rang up a practitioner at once, who gave me wonderful help, and I can truthfully say that I had no pain, not even a headache, though bad ones were predicted. The hospital authorities insisted on setting the wrist, which I had not known was broken. People have since remarked on the fact that I can turn this wrist as well as the other one, which I understand is not usual after a wrist has been broken and set. The fact that I can do so easily, I attribute to Christian Science.
