DEMONSTRATING GOD'S GOVERNMENT
The Scriptures declare (Isa. 9:6), "The government shall be upon his shoulder." Too often are we found depending upon our own human sense of self-government or upon the human wisdom of some fellow mortal to aid us in self-government, when, according to Holy Writ, God is the only governor and His the only government. Even a glimpse of His supreme and infinite government gives a confidence and assurance in the power of right control which no human self-assurance can bestow.
Because of an apparent mismove in a matter of importance, a certain individual lost his responsible position. Upon being informed of this, a student of Christian Science, gravely concerned over the situation, began to declare these Christianly scientific statements: The real man, the child of God, always has a responsible position in God's kingdom. It is his sacred right, yes, his heritage, to be actively expressing the ever-present governing control of God, Principle. As she continued her arguments of righteous reversal, these healing thoughts came to her: Man, who according to Genesis (1:26) is made in the image and likeness of God, forever reflects and expresses God's government, the dominion and controlling power of Him who is the source of all true thought and action.
These truths not only comforted the student, but also proved effective in satisfactorily working out the problem for the other individual, who not only came to realize the error of his ways, but began at once to rectify his mistaken judgment and the erring action which followed it. He became more thoughtful and expressed a steady, wise attitude that resulted in his securing another position, which, though humble in the beginning, gave promise of a bright future.
