I have received so much inspiration...
I have received so much inspiration from the testimonies in the periodicals that I feel it is now time for me to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have been mine during a period of over twenty-five years. I came to Christian Science because of a deep sense of unrest and lack of spiritual vision. I did not know which way to turn and was nearing despair and frustration.
A friend who knew of my confused thought recommended that I read Christian Science and offered to lend me a copy of Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. I knew nothing of this religion; however, I accepted the loan of the book, telling her I would lay aside all my prejudices and investigate this Science with an open mind. I had read but a few pages when I was convinced of the truth of Mrs. Eddy's statements. They satisfied my sense of logic and reason, and I gladly accepted the teachings and began at once to apply them. In a short time I had a healthier outlook on life, and my disposition improved so much that my son, home from college for a week end, said, "My mother looks and acts fifteen years younger."
During the time that Christian Science has been my way of life, I have had many demonstrations of this truth, physical, mental, and moral, and I have also experienced protection. Twenty years ago I was healed instantly and permanently of influenza through the help of a practitioner. Thirteen years ago a heart condition was overcome through my own understanding. Fear so filled my consciousness that I had begun to put my house in order, so to speak. When lying on the davenport one day I recalled Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 393), "Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good." It was as though someone had spoken aloud, and I obeyed, literally, getting up at once. That was the end of the fear and the heart condition. This healing has been permanent.
