Blood poisoning healed. Sons at war protected

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for what it has done for me and my family for the past twenty-six years. I became interested in this Science when my husband was healed through the work of a practitioner. At that time I was prejudiced against what I erroneously thought Christian Science to be; however, I could not help seeing the healing. nor could I deny the doctor's admission, made in my presence, that Christian Science had done more for my husband than he, the doctor, could do. And so in an hour of need I read the chapter on Prayer in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was healed of extreme fear at that time. Having once experienced the healing power of the truth contained in the textbook, I read it occasionally.

Then one day there appeared the symptoms of boils. For the first time I called a practitioner and asked for help for myself. The help was lovingly given, and overnight all evidence of the boils disappeared. Many healings in our family followed, for I had decided to take my stand with my husband and to raise our four children in Christian Science. Our youngest baby was healed of convulsions in such severe form that it seemed as though he was about to pass on. Our little girl was also healed of convulsions at this time. I was so new in the study of Christian Science and so full of fear that a Christian Science nurse was with me through this experience. I shall always be grateful for her work and for that of the practitioner.

Our older boy was healed of blood poisoning in a severe form. This healing was brought about through the work of a practitioner and the help of the same Christian Science nurse. The boy was in great pain, and there seemed to be much fear. We had worked to the best of our knowledge for several days with no evident results. And so one morning we decided that for that day we would look entirely away from the problem and spend the day in expressing gratitude for Christian Science and the healing work that is going on in the world. The nurse and I sat by the bedside of the boy, and the three of us sang hymns all day from the Christian Science Hymnal, glorifying God. That evening the infection opened, and healing resulted quickly.
