I first turned to Christian Science...
I first turned to Christian Science eleven years ago when the best specialists and doctors in the city had said they could do nothing more to heal my husband of a nervous breakdown. At that time I knew absolutely nothing of this Science apart from the fact that it was supposed to heal sickness. During my first talk with a practitioner I realized that the Christian Science religion was something good and wonderful because it was based on the spiritual interpretation of the Bible and the practical teachings and works of Jesus. My gratitude to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who revealed this Science of the Christ to the world, grows daily. A few days after I asked the practitioner for help, my husband received his healing.
Since then I have experienced many healings. Quinsy, influenza, a growth on the eyelid, antrum trouble, bladder chills, a severe illness the name of which I do not know, scalding, and burns are some of the difficulties of which I have been healed through the teachings of Christian Science. I have also overcome the need of wearing glasses.
Our daughter has had the privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School for ten years and has also experienced several healings, including one of a cough of several years' standing. Frequently she had suffered from abscessed ears after being in swimming. Following one of these attacks she was operated on and spent several weeks in bed with constant medical attention. Three years ago the same trouble manifested itself again. This time a Christian Science practitioner was called immediately. It was about six o'clock one evening when I telephoned. I was lovingly assured that immediate help would be given. A calm but definite declaration of God's perfect handiwork and the inability of one form of matter to affect another form of matter was made.
