The testimonies in the periodicals...

The testimonies in the periodicals have long been an inspiration to me, and I should like to express my gratitude by telling of an instantaneous healing which I had several years ago.

One morning when I was leaving my second-floor apartment to go to work, my heel caught on the top step, and I fell to the first landing. By the middle of the day considerable pain and soreness had developed, and it became very difficult for me to move. A friend who is a practitioner took me home in his car. This friend sensed my great need, and in a short time he telephoned to ask my husband about me. Such compassion touched me deeply, and I requested his help. By the time my husband left the telephone, every trace of the pain and soreness had vanished, and I was completely free.

This instantaneous healing made a deep impression on me and enabled me to grasp somewhat the scientific fact that pain is not in the body; that suffering is the result of mesmeric suggestion; and that it ceases the instant one awakes and turns unreservedly to God, recognizing the indestructible nature of one's relationship to Him. In the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (pp. 470, 471), "The relations of God and man, divine Principle and idea, are indestructible in Science; and Science knows no lapse from nor return to harmony, but holds the divine order or spiritual law, in which God and all that He creates are perfect and eternal, to have remained unchanged in its eternal history." This statement was proved true in my case.
