WHEN WAR WILL CEASE
Today mankind is longing and searching more earnestly than it has ever done for the abolishment of war and the establishment of peace. How these purposes can and will be accomplished is outlined for us by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." There she writes (p. 467): "It should be thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brotherhood of man will be established."
Here then is the way by which peace can be established on earth. It is not just a way, but the only way. To understand thoroughly the truth contained in our beloved Leader's statement is, therefore, the earnest endeavor of every Christian Scientist.
Christians should be familiar with the account of creation given in the first chapter of Genesis, in which it is recorded that God made man in His own image and likeness. The image and likeness of God, therefore, is wholly good and beautiful. It is evident from this account that man is the climax of a perfect creation, containing no element of evil, and that God is satisfied with His work, for we are told that everything which He made is "very good."
