THE SUNDAY SERVICE

And here two reading lamps provide
A light whose flow, like stream of grace.
In shining forth is multiplied
Till it enfolds each Reader's face
Within the white, reflected glow
Which rises from the books below.

But deeper radiance is shed
Upon the listeners through speech
As phrase by healing phrase is read
With Truth's own penetrating reach,
Till those go forth whose hearts have heard—
Their faces lighted by the Word.
