The 250-ton trawler "Elsie Cam," pounded for over an hour on a reef off Spurn Head in one of the Lincolnshire coast's worst storms in many years, was sinking fast.
"Cannot last," signaled the skipper to watchers on shore. "Give my love to wife and kiddies ... goodbye." But badly holed as she was, the trawler limped home.
