PETER

Peter, although the cup
Slip from your hasty hand,
Think not to shake the stand
Of him who lifts it up.

Accept the sacrifice
Of love; no human will
Leads up the cross-crowned hill.
God needs not man's advice.

He only makes the choice—
Enough to feed His own
With grace, till love full-grown
Answers that mighty voice.
