[Original testimony in French]
It is with great joy that I send...
It is with great joy that I send my testimony of gratitude for Christian Science. Twenty-five years ago I lived in Buenos Aires, where I had a very dear friend, an American, who was a Christian Scientist. She offered me the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, thus introducing me to Christian Science. I left Argentina and returned to Paris, where I became a member of Second Church of Christ. Scientist, and later had class instruction in Science. I learned that our true life is spiritual and not material, and I have tried to apply and demonstrate what I have been taught.
My sons were divinely protected during the whole course of the war. The elder one was able to get on board an English ship and return to service as an officer in General tie Gaulle's army, then to participate in the campaigns of Tchad, France, and Alsace with General Leclerc. My second son, a prisoner of war, was able to escape and return to me in Paris, where, thanks to the kindness of a Scientist friend, he hid. When his brother passed through Paris with the division of Leclerc, he left with him and served in the campaigns of France and Alsace. Both are now demobilized, safe and sound. I did protective work in Christian Science for them every day by studying the ninety-first and twenty-third Psalms, and our textbook.
My mother, who is bringing up my elder son's little boy, was perfectly protected. She lives in a little village near Nantes (Loire Inférieure), which was not touched by the bombings at Nantes. Her house, which should have been either requisitioned or demolished by military order of the German occupation forces, remained intact in her possession. Her poultry and her goat were not requisitioned. She was always able to find enough food for them, and they provided her with what she needed of milk and eggs both for herself and for the child.
