SELF-KNOWLEDGE

An angel came to Peter while he slept,And his imprisoned thought awoke to light.Unshackled, through the iron gate he steppedUnchallenged, angel-guided through the night; And in that hour he glimpsed reality,Came to himself—and knew that he was free.

Take heart, O Christian warrior of today!Angels will come to rouse from dreams of senseAnd break your fear-forged chains, which will give wayBefore the challenge of omnipotence; Then you through error's iron gate will go,Come to yourself—God's man—and freedom know.
