Opening the Shutters
Man , as the son of God exists at the standpoint of happiness and continuous expectancy of good. He lives forever in the joyous atmosphere of divine Love, where sorrow and trouble never enter. He never has been, nor can he ever be, shut out from the presence of his loving Father-Mother, God.
To one passing through a wilderness experience, however, there may seem to be little cause for happiness or for expectancy of new and higher joys and opportunities. But when, in obedience and humility, this one opens his thought to the gentle ministrations of Christian Science, a sense of peace, hope, and comfort will glide into his consciousness as sunshine into a room from which the shutters have been removed. As a stanza from the Christian Science Hymnal puts it:
