Peniel
Ah,
Jacob, well I know just how you felt
Going back again to meet your brother,
Fearing in him revenge, or even subtlety,
Fearing within the soreness of hurt pride.
But then I know, too, what it means to meet
And wrestle with an angel messenger,
To feel the inward struggle, and to yield.
Prevailing through obedience and humble faith.
How well I understand that meeting when
Your brother Esau ran to greet you, and you said,
"Thy face I've seen like to the face of God,
And thou wast pleased with me."
Enlightened and transformed by such encounters,
I too have seen the dawning day
Break big with blessings, and have claimed
A princely heritage and name.
