True Happiness
True
happiness is found nor here nor there,
But is the savor of a faith serene
Within us, where the Master truly said
God's kingdom is. Here no inept despair,
Nor greed, nor hate, finds entrance. All unseen,
Love guards that peaceful dwelling. Spirit-fed,
A spring of living water slakes the thirst
Of all who pass that way, for healing words
Come from a heart that knows such gentle grace.
Here hopes, fast bound like winter buds, soon burst
Their swaddlings: courage sings a song that stirs
All men to rise, surmounting time and place.
True happiness asks neither when nor where,
But trusts all being to the Father's care.
