I can never adequately express...
I can never adequately express in words my gratitude for Christian Science. For twenty years it has been a great help and comfort to me.
I was first attracted to it by my mother, who was reading the textbook. Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. She had been suffering from an internal trouble for many months, and after dispensing with material remedies and relying on Science, she was entirely healed. After a few weeks' study I knew that I had found the truth. About a month later I was instantaneously healed of influenza.
Other physical healings include those of a scalded foot and a badly cut wrist, which, without Christian Science, would have necessitated the taking of several stitches. Although this cut was very deep, in three days only an indistinct line could be seen. More recently an internal physical displacement was completely healed through Christian Science. A surgeon had said that an operation was the only solution.
Two years ago I suffered from a severe nervous breakdown with its attendant physical troubles. This healing took several months, but by increased study and renewed consecration to Truth, one by one the difficulties were overcome. I realized that I had for some years been satisfied with ease in matter, and I had to become dissatisfied with it. I shall always be particularly thankful for this healing, because many faults of character disappeared at this time.
Christian Science has been used to meet every problem with which we have been confronted in our home. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 264), "When we realize that Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter, this understanding will expand into self-completeness, finding all in God, good, and needing no other consciousness." Grief was overcome at the passing on of a loved one, by the realization of the truth that '"Life is Spirit, never in nor of matter." The study of our Leader's writings has given me much joy, a happy home, and loving, helpful friends.
For the wonderful privilege of class instruction, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am sincerely grateful. For the example of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I feel deep gratitude. I can truly declare with the Psalmist (Ps. 16: 11), "In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."—(Mrs.) Kathleen M. Rogers, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.
