I am grateful to be able to express through this testimony gratitude for Christian Science, which opens the way of Life to us; for Mary Baker Eddy, our Leader; and for the Christian Scientists who are always ready to help us with kindness and love.

In 1943 Christian Science was brought to my attention when a Scientist came to stay in the same apartment with us. Our first contact was not a happy one. Also, at first, the sharing of our apartment was very trying to me. Today I am happy to acknowledge that it was or only my false concept of things which made me recoil from the least smile or kindness of this woman.

At the time we became acquainted with this Christian Scientist we were turned to the truth by a number of hard experiences. Some days after this woman gave us a glimpse of the grandeur of Christian Science, our baby was taken ill with otitis. We did not turn immediately to Christian Science, but had medical treatment. Two days later, the doctor who was treating the child stated that mastoiditis was developing, and an immediate operation was necessary. The Scientist was very comforting, as she affirmed the perfection of the divine creation, and God's omnipresence. We asked for treatment and discarded all material remedies. The next morning our baby was no longer suffering, and that evening the child was healed.
