Divine Oneness

That divine oneness of cause and effect is the forever fact, is the beneficent revelation of Christian Science. Anyone accepting and understanding this fundamental spiritual fact proves in his own experience, with "signs following." Mary Baker Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 92), "The foundation of evil is laid on a belief in something besides God." Ever-increasing enjoyment of the eternal and indestructible realities of infinite good inevitably becomes his subsequent experience.

Christian Science, by clearly and spiritually defining familiar Scriptural names for God, enables you and me to learn that there is nothing besides God and His creation. It thus reveals the practicality and healing power of seemingly obscure Bible passages. It also amplifies to our comprehension the universal import of Jesus' teachings, and leads up to the spiritual revelation of the allness and oneness of God as cause, in whom is all effect.

Jesus, our beloved Way-shower, made it very clear that his healing ministry was the visible evidence of his spiritual understanding of divine oneness. From day to day he went about teaching God's allness and omnipresence, and those who grasped the spiritual content and meaning of his words were enabled to give tangible proofs of this teaching. His familiar "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30), "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works" (John 14:10), and his fervent prayer that we all may be one with the Father as he and the Father are one (John 17:20—23), show the essential and imperative need for this understanding of the divine oneness.
