Success Inevitable
How quickly discouragement is banished and hope and courage are renewed when one awakens to the fact that success in any right endeavor is inevitable! Failure of some cherished plan need not be cause for despair, discouragement, or even annoyance, for it may well indicate the need of purifying the motive and methods employed to accomplish the desired end. Desire must be holy and unselfish to be worthy of success, and methods must be honest and just to succeed.
A man, very much discouraged because of a physical condition which did not yield to material methods of treatment, decided to study Christian Science. Immediately he experienced a feeling of peace and assurance he had never before known. He began the study of the Lesson-Sermons as found in the Christian Science Quarterly, and attended the services regularly. The troublesome physical condition showed immediate improvement, and in a short time disappeared.
True success is the realization of harmony. God is the source of all good and, since He is the only creator, nothing exists or has power but good. Realization of good in one's experience is the result of knowing God, and man as His likeness. Spiritual man, the image of God, is one with Him and cannot be separated from Him. Mortals experience evil because they accept as true the belief that man is a material entity, separate from God. Humanly devised plans eventually fail if they are not in accord with God's plan of infinite good for all His ideas. Thinking, working, and praying in obedience to God, who holds the universe, including man, in perfect harmony, ensures success. The understanding of God and of man's relationship to Him reveals the fact that man is never a failure.
