My deep appreciation of and...

My deep appreciation of and love for Christian Science and its beloved Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, are engendering in me an ever-growing desire to help others as I have been helped. I first heard of Christian Science through a cousin in the East, who was visiting in our home in 1915. Her little daughter had been healed of infantile paralysis when about five years of age. I saw her when she was seven and she was a normal child.

One relative in the home accepted this Science at once. I read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and thought what I read a beautiful theory, but did not accept it. However, I witnessed several healings in our home, including those of a severe case of hoarseness and gall-bladder trouble of many years' standing, and these made a profound impression on me.

In 1919 several changes and losses, including breaking up my home and giving up my husband, left me hopelessly depressed and frustrated. It was then I found I wanted Christian Science. The next fall I was offered work in a small city over a hundred miles from where I was making my home with a sister. I was grateful for this opportunity, because I knew this city had a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and I hoped to find help.
