The Talent We All Possess

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

"How can I serve my country best?" is a question that is asked by many young men and women as they approach the age for military service. "How can I be sure," asks the eager young volunteer or draftee, "that I shall be given the opportunity to serve where my talents can be used to the best advantage of my country, as well as of myself?"

The experience of a young Christian Scientist may help others to answer these questions. About a year before the entry of the United States into the present war, when there were many indications that this country would be drawn into the conflict, this young man offered his services to the Army Air Force as a candidate for officers' training. He failed to meet the exacting requirements of the visual test, however, and was not accepted.

The rejection was a bitter disappointment. Not only did it close the chosen avenue of service, but it also brought to the young man's thought the question as to whether the healing of his vision, which had been accomplished through Christian Science in his early boyhood, had really been permanent and complete.
