For the many blessings and...
For the many blessings and healings which Christian Science has brought to me and mine, words cannot express my gratitude. Christian Science came into my home when I was ten years old, when my father was healed of nervous prostration. In six weeks' time he was back at work, a well man. This healing meant much to me. I knew then that this was the same truth Jesus had taught. All through the years this Science has been my only physician. It has never failed when properly applied.
At one time, in stepping off a streetcar, I came down with all my weight on my left foot, and broke a bone in the ankle. The foot and leg became quite swollen and inflamed, but I experienced very little pain, and was up and around the house, going up and down stairs, each day. One morning as I was studying the Lesson-Sermon in the Quarterly my foot jerked three times; with the last jerk, I felt something snap in the ankle. My thought was filled with gratitude to God for His wonderful truth. Mary Baker Eddy's words on page 132 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" came to me, "Divine Love is our only physician, and never loses a case." In about three weeks' time I returned to work. I am very grateful for the practitioner who stood steadfastly for Truth, and who worked so patiently with me during this trial. This healing taught me to love more, and to see my brother man as God made Him, perfect and complete.
I am very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, for class instruction, and for our lectures and our periodicals. I am grateful for my place of employment, which I found nineteen years ago through answering an advertisement in The Christian Science Monitor. I am indeed grateful for our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has made the way clear for us, and for every activity she has given us through The Mother Church.—(Miss) Bertha Radtke, Chicago, Illinois.
