Reflection
Here
by the lilies in this quiet pool
The wayward tumult of the heart will cease;
In the clear hush of twilight, sweet and cool,
I feel the benediction of God's peace.
So lovely are the lilies, calm and pure,
Each flower in the water sees its face
Reflected in perfection, symbol sure
Of God, and man the image of His grace.
How still the water; so it must have been
When stormy wind and wave obeyed His will.
How sweet to know the same Truth comes again
The tempest in this wayward heart to still!
O teach this heart to yearn for things above;
Dear Father, like these lilies, I would be
The calm reflection of Thy wondrous love.
Thy truth, Thy beauty, and Thy purity.
