My first healing in Christian Science...

My first healing in Christian Science occurred many years ago. I had been suffering from chronic ear trouble, for which materia medica could offer little relief and no permanent cure. At last I decided to try Christian Science. My visit to the office of a practitioner was a wonderful revelation, for I was instantly and permanently healed as a result of this one treatment. I then began to study Christian Science most earnestly, and shortly thereafter became a member of a branch church. Since that time Christian Science has been my only physician, and has kept me in good health during a most active experience in the business world.

My work has been engineering and heavy construction contracting. This type of work is considered extremely hazardous from the financial standpoint, for weather conditions, the elements, and unforeseen difficulties have always been accepted as able to inflict disaster and loss; yet I have seen the destructive effect of all these conditions rendered null and void when the truth of Christian Science was understandingly applied.

It was at the time when the United States entered the first World War and many restrictions and regulations were placed upon business that I organized my first contracting company. Many said to me that it was too bad I had started my company when there was no business, but I did not accept this suggestion as true, for I had learned from the study of Christian Science that man's only business is expressing God, and it is therefore never limited or restricted. By taking this stand for Truth and refusing to accept the suggestions of mortal mind I have proved them powerless to harm, or interfere with progress.
