In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 241) Mary Baker Eddy writes, "The Bible teaches transformation of the body by the renewal of Spirit."

I should like to tell of a healing in which I proved the truth of this statement and of God's allness. One morning I went downtown to attend to some business. On my way home I experienced pain and burning in one foot. I reached home with great difficulty, and on removing my shoe found infection. In a short time the other foot became infected and the pain was so intense that I called a Christian Science practitioner. The condition spread rapidly, and when it reached my knees my family wanted to call a surgeon, but with my permission the practitioner removed me to a rest home conducted by Christian Scientists. The first week I grew steadily worse and the pain was almost unbearable. The condition spread to the top of my head.

Then one day the light of Truth dawned in my thought and I was wonderfully blessed. With the help of the practitioner the pain left me, and I was able to read and study. At this time a copy of The Christian Science Journal was put into my hands, and an article entitled "The Valley of Decision" greatly blessed me. After reading and studying this article, I turned to the Bible and read (Joel 3:14), "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision." At this point, I realized I was being healed. In eight weeks I was home, entirely restored. This has been a permanent healing.
