Christian Science found me in...

Christian Science found me in a "waste howling wilderness" of false beliefs. I was bereft of home, companionship, and all that contributed to human happiness. This, added to an uncongenial business position, in which I chafed and rebelled, was gradually sapping my health and strength. Although I was quite young, death seemed the only way out of an existence which had been one of frustration and continuous disappointment.

Wandering hither and thither, I looked into various religions and cults, earnestly seeking an answer to the one question, "What is life?"

While I was in this state of mind, an old school friend handed me the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This I accepted as I would have accepted any book that offered a respite from my woes. I was healed of neuralgia while reading it, but to my self-pitying and blindfold eye its truths did not appeal to me, so it was returned. The revelation contained in that volume that God is Love did not leave me where it found me, however, and in wonderment I found myself saying, "Why, God has only good for me." Silently, but surely, this glimmer of Truth penetrated my death-filled consciousness, and sometime afterward I began to attend a Christian Science church.
