For many years I have experienced the blessings that come from the study of Christian Science. Sometimes when struggling with a problem or a sense of discouragement, I have received such strength and encouragement from reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, that unfailingly the joy of my salvation has been restored to me. The blessings I have thus received impel me to add my testimony to the healing and regenerating power of Truth.

When Christian Science found me I was sick and discouraged, searching fruitlessly for help, but not knowing where to find it. Since my childhood, life had been a constant struggle with sickness, fear, and limitation. I had been a member of an orthodox church for eighteen years, but was not satisfied; my prayers were not answered, and I could find no answer to the questions uppermost in my thinking. At last, weary and discouraged, I ceased to pray and closed the Bible, for there seemed no help for me there. I had been taught that God sent sickness and sorrow to purify and make us better; so in my bewilderment, not knowing that I was offering my first real prayer, I sent out an inarticulate cry for light. This was answered, for in a few weeks Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was given me to read.

After reading the first chapter, on Prayer, I knew I had found that for which I had been searching, and I can never express my joy in learning that God does not send sickness or evil of any kind, but that He is "a very present help in trouble," and that the Christ, Truth, is with us today, healing sickness and sin as in Jesus' time.
