"The pattern shewed to thee in the mount"

On page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy gives us the scientific definition of "Church." The first paragraph reads as follows: "The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle."

This "structure of Truth and Love" is infinite reality. It includes all that is good and perfect, and God is the creator and substance of it. Its foundation is immovable, resting on Principle; its walls are foursquare, representing Mind, Spirit, Truth, Life. This structure expresses divine Love, and the atmosphere pervading its infinitude is that of Soul. It includes all that God creates, and there is no "without," since this structure fills spiritual immensity and encompasses all there is or can be. Nothing can be added to it, nothing taken away; nor can anything enter that defileth or maketh a lie. Within it are spiritual abundance, joy, loving-kindness, unselfishness, harmony, peace. The Psalmist joyously exclaims" "Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. ... We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple."

In this realm of Principle there is no abiding place for destructive, parasitic thoughts of lack, fear, hate, jealousy, strife, envy, resentment, pride of power, or lusting for leadership, no sense of self-importance or desire for self-aggrandizement.
