I first heard of Christian Science in the year 1925. At that time I was under medical treatment for an ear complaint. As the treatment had been going on for so long, and had brought no improvement, I asked the doctor to transfer me to a clinic. This he did. I thought I should receive help more quickly there; but I was told that if I did not protect myself against drafts tympanitis might develop. An incision was made in both ears, and later on I was to undergo an operation; but I grew more and more afraid to have it performed.

Then, through my father, I heard of Christian Science for the first time. He was having Christian Science treatment, and he told me of the help which comes from our Father-Mother God. At first I could not quite understand him; but when I saw that he was finding such relief from a chronic complaint, I felt the desire to possess the book which contained the healing truth. My wish was fulfilled. I received the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and it has indeed become a "key" to the Bible. After I had been reading it with interest for several weeks the truth that God is our Father and that He cares for His children became clear to me through right thinking. I caught a glimmer of God's everpresence and help. Since that time I have been privileged to experience many proofs of the healing power of divine Love, and the ear trouble has disappeared.

One day in the autumn of 1927 I was attacked by abdominal pains. At first I did not take any notice of them; but as they grew worse I realized that to take no notice of error is an error in itself, for Christian Science teaches that even the most insignificant unpleasant condition should be destroyed through the truth. To all appearances the difficulty was bladder trouble. I could not rise above the fear which the picture of error presented, and so could not cling to any thoughts of Truth; therefore I wrote to a practitioner asking for treatment. I can say that the very moment the practitioner read my letter there was a turn for the better, the pain abating. From that time my condition improved gradually, and in about two weeks I was completely healed.
