Cherish Good!
There is little question but that the world at large would be much happier were it awake to the desirability of cherishing the good of which it is already conscious. In reaching out after greater good men all too frequently overlook or ruthlessly brush aside the blessings already within their portals. There are perhaps few if any lives in which may not easily be found some ray of hope, something for which to be grateful, if one's eyes are only open to perceive it. To start out with a purpose to make the most of present good is to swing the door wide open for yet greater blessedness.
Cherishing good and gratitude for good are very closely related, since one would scarcely wish to magnify that for which he was not thankful. To realize that to cherish implies a purpose to nurture with care, to protect, and encourage, is to awaken one to the proper entertainment of good. Desirable guests are always cordially welcomed and cared for in the most tender fashion. Their lovely traits are appreciated and made much of, that they may be enjoyed to the fullest. Just so should every least mental sense of good receive at one's hands the most joyful reception and protection.
When Christian Science reveals the fact that good is the absolute nature of God and that He is perpetually causing all of His ideas to reflect this good to each other, it proclaims the wisdom of cherishing good under every circumstance. To glimpse for a moment the glorious truth that God created His every idea to reflect blessing is to begin to realize that nothing short of this privilege should ever be entertained by or for anyone. What sort of a world, think you, would this be if every individual were cherishing for himself and others this beautiful truth? And how are we to cherish for all such inestimable good?
